The Hebephilia Conspiracy

Many of you are unlikely to have ever heard of the term "hebephilia." Unlike pedophilia, which is specifically defined as "having a sexual attraction to pre-pubescent children (children that have not reached puberty)," hebephilia is "having a PREFERENTIAL sexual attraction to pubescent children (after puberty starts, including early teens.)" Another term that bears definition is "ephebophilia" which is "having a sexual attraction to mid-to-late adolescent teens." It's very important to understand such distinctions, because the media and many nationally syndicated commentators improperly use the term "pedophilia" as if it was equivalent to "child molester," and indeed, many as-yet uninformed people truly believe this false definition of "pedophile = child molester" without a second thought. Sexual attraction to something, however inappropriate, is not equal to sexual ACTION; you don't hear about pedophiles who DON'T touch children because they're not doing anything wrong in the first place. It is simply not possible to have an intelligent conversation about difficult topics if the terminology used is redefined to mean something it does not, so now that you understand the difference between pedophilia, hebephilia, and child molestation, this article can continue.

Let's cut to the chase: the DSM-IV is being revised to create the DSM-V, the next generation of the psychiatric manual that's used to diagnose mental disorders, and the problem is that some of the shrinks scribbling new diagnoses into the book during its revision process are attempting to blur the line between pedophilia and hebephilia. Why does it matter? Because it's normal and makes biological sense to be attracted to teens who have already started puberty, because those teens are now capable of performing their respective part in sexual reproduction, while sexual attraction to pre-pubescent children doesn't make quite as much sense. Combine this with the DSM-IV criteria for pedophilia being used to legally force sex offenders into indefinite psychiatric civil commitment to bypass due process rights and the problem becomes much more alarming.

Basically, there are some rogue psychiatrists working on DSM-V that want to combine pedophilia with hebephilia and create a mental disorder called "pedohebephilia" with the "hebe" part being merely a "sub-type" of the disorder. What's the problem? Hebephilia is "normal" by biological standards. When you were 12 and you inexplicably lusted after a fellow 12-year-old as your raging hormones kicked your mind around in circles, you were a "hebephile" so to speak, though hebephilia refers only to adults with such a sexual attraction. Society has been slowly and quietly pushed by religious zealots through subtle manipulation of the media outlets we trust to bring us the unfiltered truth towards making attraction to anyone under 18 years of age "disgusting" and "sick" and "unnatural" and "evil," and the gullible and easily swayed public at large has largely fallen for this hook, line, and sinker. Now, this misguided "moral push" has reached prominent psychiatrists, and they're mixing together an unnatural sexual attraction with a normal one that is genetically encoded as an instinct we possess on a fundamental mental level. The end result is easily predictable: people will be thrown in jail, prosecuted, and even committed to psychiatric institutions for something that is a natural part of our human sex drive.

Why is this a problem? Because unlike pedophilia, which is actually a somewhat rare condition (despite what media reports may imply), hebephilia is common because it's part of our normal human development process. If you want proof, look no further than the sexual polarization of many societies around the world, especially in the United States! While kids and teens are dangled in front of us and presented as sexy young things we should be attracted to, it's not only illegal to engage in sex with them, societal pressures are strongly against even THINKING about them in a sexual way. We're bombarded with the iconic "sexy teen" daily, but if we have sex with the "sexy teen" then we can expect to end up in a not-so-sexy jail cell for a few decades. But why do we find these young teens to be even remotely sexy in the first place? Because hebephilia, ephebophilia, and beyond comes naturally to humans. Because we can mate with them and produce children, and that's how the architecture of sexual reproduction works.

As a personal aside to close this article, I have been observing many more links between ridiculous demonization or illegalization and religious zealots with major political clout over the past year than I had previously realized, and this DSM-V revision nonsense is just one example. It seems that it has become commonplace to force one's own morality onto others using the law (or the DSM, in this case). I intend to write many more articles about these connections and work harder to expose these people and their actions against our inalienable rights and our sacred freedoms.
